Pamela was educated at Pate's Grammar School, Cheltenham and London University. She is married to Bruce, a solicitor and has two children. After living in Leeds and Otley, West Yorkshire, she has lived in Doncaster for many years.

Winner of the David St John Thomas 2009 Children's Award Winner - David St John Thomas 2009 Children's book award for 'Mr Swill's Strange Day'
'Doncaster writer and illustrator, Pamela Bowling, won the prestigious David St John Thomas Children's Book Award 2009, with her second children's book, 'Mr Swill's Strange Day'. The prize-giving ceremony took place at the Society of Authors in South Kensington, London. The planned guest presenter was Liberal MP Danny Alexander, who had to rush off to Parliament after the resignation of the House of Commons Speaker, Michael Martin, the same day.'
